During an outage, a portable power generator is a guardian angel that keeps our convenient life. There are numerous of high quality generators that you can count on to produce sufficient power to keep importat equipment and appliances running. But you need to be careful with generators. You need to know the potential danger of a generator so that you can protect yourself and your familiy. And most of all, never choose the wrong generator for your house.
Reading the product instructions is the very first thing you need to do after you buy a generator. Read the product manual thoroughly and make sure you understand every detail before you install the generator set. You can have technical assistant in case you are not sure of what you should and should not do. Or you can ask for a help from your friend who has more experience with generators. This may cost you some money but it is worth considering the safety you will get. If you think you have understood everything about your portable power generator, you can place it safely at your home.
A portable power generator exhaust emission contains carbon monoxide. It has no color and smell, yet it is very dangerous and it may kill you or your family. To keep your living space off the gas, you need to place the generator in a separated room with sufficient ventilation to keep the air circulation. A portable power generator is not intended to provide power for your entire home appliances. If you use the generator for too many devices, it may cause some overload which is dangerous for the generator itself and may lead to a fire. So you need to check the wattage before you buy a generator. Make sure you notice the power limit of the generator set.
You also need to be cautious with the fuel of the generator. You need to keep the fuel reserves away from the children and it is highly recommended that you put them outside your living area. You are suggested to use glass containers that are labeled properly so that everyone will notice.
